Sticks 4 Kicks Event Helps Woodward Students Hone Blood-drawing Skills

February 6, 2020

Want to give a little blood and help a student?

Volunteer your arm at the fourth annual Sticks 4 Kicks event February 10-11, 2020, at Woodward Career Technical High School.

The school's 25 phlebotomy students will draw the blood to practice for their upcoming certified phlebotomy national exam. This is not a blood drive; only about two small tubes of blood will be taken. Students will be supervised.

The students are in Woodward's Health Technologies program, which introduces the fields of biotechnology, laboratory science, nutrition, sports medicine and patient care support. Students can earn certifications while in high school, which gives them the tools necessary to qualify for careers in a competitive workforce.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Media Center at Woodward Career Technical High School, 7005 Reading Road, 45237.

Are you interested in volunteering for a needle stick or to serve as a trainer/supervisor (EMTs, phlebotomists, nurses, doctors, State Tested Nursing Assistants) during the event?  Register with Woodward teacher Candace Jones.
