Shauna Murphy is the proud principal of Woodward Career Technical High School.
Murphy also serves the district as a member of the Re-inventing High School committee, the Enhanced College and Career committee and the District-wide Accountability committee. She is a previous member of the Turnaround Team, a district-wide initiative that seeks to increase student achievement for the district’s lowest performing elementary schools. She was a finalist for the Dr. Lawrence C. Hawkins Educator of the Year Award, hosted by the Western and Southern Financial Group, and was named the Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates Principal of the Year.
Murphy began her career as a substitute teacher in Cincinnati Public Schools and then became an English teacher at Purcell Marian High School, her alma mater. She later became the school’s Academic Dean before moving to the School for Creative and Performing Arts. She later served as the principal of Hyde Park Elementary School and Quebec Heights Elementary School.
Murphy earned a bachelor of science degree in broadcast journalism from Ohio University, a master's degree in secondary education from Xavier University and a master's degree in educational administration with Assistant Superintendent Licensure from the University of Cincinnati. She also, recently earned a Superintendent’s license from the University of Dayton.
Murphy is a proud member of the Southern Baptist Church where she teaches Sunday School and is the Youth Ministry director. She enjoys line dancing, yoga, reading on her porch, shopping and spending time with her family.
