Dear Woodward Career Technical High School Families,

 

 

We are excited to share with you our goals for the 2014-2015 school year.

Our first SMART Goal is to focus on continuous academic improvement for our students.  We want to earn good standing with our adequate yearly objectives as designed by the Ohio Department of Education.

We are providing our staff with monthly professional development that focuses on the rigor of the common core state standards, technology and instructional strategies.  We are implementing all of the components of the My Tomorrow Initiative (high expectations,engagement, collaboration, technology, social and emotional learning, critical thinking, and creativity).  Our 7th and 8th grade students engage in Advisory twice a week, are experiencing 1-to-1 technology and have access to a Playbook that will help them when they are struggling with concepts and will assist them with accelerated opportunities as they master concepts.  Our upperclassmen have an opportunity to take an AP Biology class or an AP Human Geography class.

Our staff is working very hard to decrease the number of students who are assigned to the Alternative to Suspension or Alternative to Expulsion Programs.  We do this work through our Positive School Culture plan and through our Olweus, anti-bullying campaign.

 Our fourth goal is very important to us.  We want our Seniors to truly be ready for the world of work and are working hard to provide career enrichment (internship) opportunities in each of our career technical academies (Advanced, Building and Health).

Finally, your involvement is critically important to the success of our school.  Therefore, we are working towards increasing our family and community engagement to 40% this school year.  If you have ideas on how to help us reach this goal or any other goals, please feel free to contact me at school.
